John L. Richard, Jr. (Director of Vocal Music)

As Director of Vocal Music at VP, Mr. Richard continues to be amazed by the wonderful talents of his students.  A native Kansan, he attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Psychology Education.  Later he attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he completed his Master of Arts in Vocal Music and Choral Conducting. He is an active member of the Colorado Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association. Mr. Richard has participated in various stage productions which include: Walter Lee in Lorraine Hansbury’s A Raisin in the Sun, Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, Don Magnifico in Rossini’s Opera, Cinderella, and Balthazar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Gi-yeon Huh (Vocal Coach/Accompanist)

Ms. Huh, a native Korean began her study of the piano at age five.  She has earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She has received numerous scholarships for piano and academics and selected for the Pi Kappa Lambda, which recognizes the highest levels of musical achievement and academic scholarship in colleges, universities, and other institutions of higher learning. Ms. Huh is an active member of American Choral Directors Association and maintains a successful private studio teaching piano and voice.  She works at Vista PEAK Exploratory as an accompanist and serves as an active vocal coach, accompanist, percussionist, and coaches Show Choir, Ascension and Vocal Jazz group, Unlimited at Vista PEAK Preparatory.  She works as an accompanist and/or part time Music director at All Saints Lutheran Church, Eden Korean Presbyterian Church in Aurora, and as an Administrative Assistant, and an accompanist at Skyview Presbyterian Church in Centennial, Colorado.  

Nancy Wilson-Rhodes (Staff Accompanist)

Mrs. Rhodes graduated from Texas Tech University with a major in Mathematics. She has chosen, however, to work with Aurora’s public schools finest high school vocalists and instrumentalists for over 15 years. She has been involved in productions of Li’l Abner, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, Annie, Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables and Forever Plaid and she would like to thank her husband, John for his patience, love, and support in her efforts to be the best she can be.
