It is with great excitement that we let everyone know that the search has been have finalized as we introduce our new Vista PEAK Prep Principal and one of our new Assistant Principals. We would like to offer a huge thanks to all those who helped us to make these important decisions for our community.
VPP Principal: Jason Maclin
We are pleased to announce the selection of Jason Maclin as the interim principal of Vista PEAK Preparatory. Most recently, Mr. Maclin served as an assistant principal of East High School in Denver. Throughout his 11 years of experience in public education, he has been an assistant principal, principal resident and interim principal in Denver. Mr. Maclin started his career as an English teacher in Chicago. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in English literature from Knox College and Master’s degree in school leadership from Concordia University Chicago. Mr. Maclin has a track record of building relationships with students and families as well as an ability to design strategic college and career readiness systems. He has extensive expertise in leading teachers to design innovative and engaging learning experiences for students. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his growing family, playing basketball and exercising. Mr. Maclin is passionate about education because of the support and guidance he received from the caring educators he was fortunate to meet throughout his academic career. Mr. Maclin is eager to meet with Vista PEAK Preparatory students, staff and families. He plans to listen to understand the rich culture and traditions that have shaped Vista PEAK Preparatory. He also looks forward to fostering an environment that embraces excellence in all forms for all students.
As we search for a long-term leader at Vista PEAK Preparatory during the 2018-19 school year, we will identify desired principal attributes through staff and parent input sessions. We also want to make sure we take our school’s unique culture into account without rushing our hiring process. In the meantime, Mr. Maclin is enthusiastic to lead our school. VPP Assistant Principal: Jacquelyn Scales
We are equally as pleased to announce the selection of Jacquelyn Scales as one of our new assistant principals to Vista PEAK Prep. Most recently, Ms. Scales served as assistant principal for MLK Early College in Denver. Jacquelyn is a former field engineer and STEM/technology teacher. Throughout her 19 years of experience in public education, she has been a teacher, district technology integration facilitator, STEM & Robotics coach, curriculum specialist/peer observer, and finally pathway director/assistant principal at MLK Early College in DPS. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University and Master’s degree from Virginia State University. Jacquelyn designed the Early College Team composed of counseling, Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF), Family and Community Engagement Specialist, Goodwill Industries and work-based learning specialist that developed a framework to progress monitor grade-level checklists and leverage successful student outcomes through a whole-child lens. She transformed student learning experiences by increasing student participation in Pathways of Study from 114 in 2014 to 564 students in 2018. Played a key role in increasing concurrent enrollment offerings across all content areas by increasing seats from 166 in 2014 to +590 in 2018. Developed and maintained effective working relationships with employees from community organizations and college partners, increasing from 3 in 2014 to 11 in 2018. Centralized 2 iterations of construction for state of the art STEM and Advanced Manufacturing labs. Retained graduation rate of 90%+. She is equally as eager to meet and serve our school community.
Mrs. Katrisha Rinnan (current AP) and Mr. Rosa will work diligently over the next couple weeks to support the transition of our new leaders. We feel very fortunate to have such high impact educators joining the Bison family!!!
