Vista PEAK PTSA
PTSA meetings occurs every month on the second Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM September through June in the Exploratory Learning Commons.
PTA mission: Be a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
The Vista PEAK Parent Teacher Student Association, PTSA would like to welcome you back to school now that things have settled down a bit. I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself, Stacey Ivey, as our PTSA president and fellow colleague. Much like many of you, I am a parent (of three children attending VP) and my life is plenty busy, so adding something else to my plate seems crazy. However, I do know the importance of parent involvement, communication, and community. These are three essential elements that drives our organization.
As a campus, we are making history this year -- full campus P-12, graduating senior class, true varsity athletics and games played on our field, Pep band, cheerleaders & poms, Homecoming, Prom, and many more wonderful memories to come! We need lots of collaboration between our parents, staff, and students to make these successful events and that's where YOU come in. Our organization meets once a month, usually the second Tues. of the month, maybe more depending on upcoming events and for only an hour. You will be invited to volunteer at events, but you are not required. Membership is not required, but encouraged as it helps support the programs we put on, funding requests, etc. and most importantly the chance to have a voice and vote at our meetings. These are yearly dues of $10.00/person.
We do ask that ALL staff share our information with their students and families and support us through Box Tops for Education, Labels for Education, and Ronald McDonald Pop Tabs. These are no-brainers and only require you collecting the goods and turning them at the designated times. In the Exploratory, teachers have a manila folder in the file cabinet across from Lupita's desk for Box Tops and Labels for Education. Please label any ziplock bags and collection sheets with your name. Recently, we sent information out to families regarding Box Tops and collection sheets. Visit www.boxtopsforeducation.com for more collection options and sign up to help our school and coupons that save you money at home! In the past, classes with the highest number of Box Tops collected received some type of party - ice cream, popcorn, pizza, etc. This was P, K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. A chart has been created and needs modification for this year, but we'll post it where everyone can see, so be on the lookout within a few weeks.
We also participate in helping support our local Ronald McDonald House Charity through collecting pop tabs. A volunteer will be coming around this week and next to pass out those containers. For this particular one, there is no competition, but we are trying to put something together to show how many pounds of pop tabs we have raised and how that compares to a Bison.
