Starting in 2017, Colorado high school juniors will be taking the College Board’s SAT while sophomores will take the PSAT10.
The SAT is an entrance exam that is used by colleges and universities for admission purposes. The goal of the SAT is to provide admission boards with a common criterion to compare all applicants on.
The PSAT10 is a practice exam that tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, but in a format that 10th grade students can better understand. The PSAT also helps students gauge potential for success in advanced course work.
The SAT and PSAT10 are administered on state recognized testing days. This year, both 11th and 10th grade students will take the SAT and PSAT10 on April 11, 2017.
